Make Plans for Garden Walk July 26-27, 2008

July 7th, 2008 Colleen Kulikowski

Community Pride - One Garden at a time!

Garden Walk is July 26 and 27 here in Buffalo where more than 300 Buffalo homeowners open up their gardens to the public. Over the two days, tens of thousands of visitors visit these gardens. Garden Walk is a much anticipated event here in Western New York.

There is something about flowers here in Western New York. I have been back not a year yet but the spring and summer seem so much more colorful than I remember. Perhaps it is an appreciation that I did not have before living in Florida we always had flowers.

Not up to all the walking that Garden Walk has to offer? There is a free shuttle these two days to help you see more of the homes and do less of the walking… This is a self-guided tour that you can take in as much or little that you want. There is a map that can assist you in your tour of these gardens.

Communities that participate in event have increased property values and this event is improving the quality of life in them. This unique event was started in 1995 with 29 gardens participating. Since then it has expanded to over 5 miles and over 300 gardens participating in this free event with emphasis on encouraging neighborhood beautification and promote community pride.

Don’t miss your opportunity to see some of the most unique urban gardens in the United States. This is the largest garden tour in the US and it is right here in Buffalo New York! Better yet it is free!
